Dear Fran,

As of the writing article, like kind exchanges are still allowed.  There are proposals that may substantially change the rules pertaining to like kind exchanges.  If you are able to complete the like kind exchange before any change in the law and law is not retroactive then you can likely have a significant tax savings by performing the exchange.
